Pakistan's national carrier says its chairman has resigned from his post, less than a week after a plane crash killed 47 people.
A spokesman for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said on December 13 that Azam Saigol had resigned "due to personal reasons."
The announcement comes after a PIA ATR-42 plane crashed on a mountainside on December 7 on a flight from the northern city of Chitral to the capital, Islamabad, leaving no survivors.
Pakistani authorities are investigating the causes of the crash.
Another ATR-42 faced "technical issues" late on December 11 before it was set to take off from Multan, PIA said.
On December 12, PIA grounded its 10 twin-propeller ATR aircraft after the country’s Civil Aviation Authority decided to conduct "shakedown tests" of the planes.
